I would hate for this to be a sad story, so let's exchange that with the feeling of undeserving joy we get from our pets in the short time we are honored to live with them.  

Last week, a new client sent a photo of me and her French bulldog, Chanel, which she took (unknowing to me) while I was looking at her lawn. Obviously, Chanel was checking me out, and I will admit it tickled. Diane and I laughed at how perfect this photo is at showing my best side. 

 
Two days later we got the sad text saying Chanel had unexpectedly passed at the age of 12. Understand it's with tears in my eyes that I say our kids pass too soon and the loss cuts to our souls, but each and every moment we spend with them makes that suffering worth it. We know the grief will pass, and those memories, those precious memories, are simply the joy that makes living, living. We are better humans for the time spent with our four-legged betters.
